God Provides the Victory...And The Challenge Remains

We had another amazing day.

After writing the letter to the landlord, we were resolved that we may need to start looking for another house. We had most of our stuff in boxes at the front door since yesterday to move but thought it was back to square one.

About 11:00 AM, I received an email from the owner. She thanked me for writing the letter and told us it had given her comfort. She stated that she would sign the lease excluding the dog prohibition. She welcomed us into her home.

Fantastic.

We had postponed the bed and refrigerator delivery when things got sticky. We now tried to coordinate a move in at 2 PM, when we were able to get the keys. Justin, Cornelius, and I journeyed across town to begin some pick ups. The ministry had been circulating a list of household items for us. Incredible. We had come to South Africa with our clothes and some basic electronics but had no furnishings. We come to find out that the Christians are donating different things for us. We picked up beautiful matching desks for the girls, a great love seat for the living room, and a couple chairs.
As we got back to the house to unload, we realized the keys for all of the locks around the house were not in the house where the landlord left them. We phoned her (she lives in London) and she had no idea what had happened to them. She was really concerned. We became really concerned. It is common in South Africa for inside burglary. After hiring someone to work in your house, they can come back to rob you. This was not good as there was just new carpet put in the house and it was recently painted. The owner expressed her concern for our safety. When we talked to the Christians here, they were also concerned.

So much for sleeping in our own house tonight!

We went to the house, got some clothes for church tomorrow, took our valuables (like the computers, cameras, etc.) and came to the Rentons. The owner agreed to re-lock the entire house. Monday we will have to hire a locksmith. There are five different doors that go outside. All of their locks will have to be replaced. Until then, we are living with the Rentons.

We are one step closer to living in our own home.

We were hopeful that today was the day.

Oh well.
