Staff Family Devotional

After a good night's rest (yeah!) we had breakfast and a family devotional with the Johannesburg staff families. We started with a game where we shared something about ourselves and then passed a ball of yarn, keeping hold of the string as it passed. By the end, we had a spiderweb connecting us. We talked about how God's family is knit together by sharing ourselves with each other.

We then sang a couple songs and had a devotional about Joshua and his family's statement of faith. Joshua said, "As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." It is helpful to have a unified statement of faith as a family that binds and unifies us. Each family made a shield with their surname at the top. The statement of faith was in the middle, and each quadrant revealed something about the family: cultural heritage, family values, what the family loved about each other, what each member uniquely contributes to the family.

After sharing some of our shields with each other, we took a picture together. We then gave each family some american candy. (The kids really liked that!)
