This morning we met the Cape Town staff for a breakfast meeting. We shared lots of ideas about how to build youth and family ministry and learned a lot from them as well. I was particularly intrigued by the concept of being a "foreigner" that they talked a lot about. They used this term to describe someone that has really reached spiritual maturity. They truly live their life as if they were not entangled by the world. They also continue to grow in their financial giving to God's kingdom as they grow in the other areas of thier Christian life as their passion is truly to impact the world. They painted a picture that was extremely convicting as an american. The Cape Town Church of Christ is currently made up of 281 members. They just took up thier missions offering and raised nearly $100,000! Truly remarkable.
I have lots of notes and rekindled conviction. I am grateful for the time.
We then went with one of the couples, James and Mora, to have lunch on top of a beautiful mountain.
Tonight I preached at the midweek service.
Gotta go...dinner is being served.

Just heard on CNN that the baboons are bothering the residents in Capetown in their attempts to find food. Did you spot any?!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving in case we don't catch up with you! We'll be missing the hospitality you've extended to us these last few years, plus your loving company.
Love, Mom P.
